As reported back during AMD's 30 Years of Graphics and Gaming Innovation event, AMD has now introduced three new FX-8000 series CPUs, including the FX-8370, FX-8370E and the FX-8320E, as well as dropped prices across its FX-series.
AMD has introduced three new FX-8300 series eight-core socket AM3+ CPUs based on AMD's 32nm Vishera architecture. The new additions start with the FX-8370 which features thge same 4.0GHz base clock as the FX-8350 but also comes with a slightly higher TurboCore clock set at 4.3GHz. It has the same 125W TDP as the FX-8350 and feature four Piledriver CPU modules with 2MB of L2 cache per module and 8MB of shared L3 cache. The FX-8370 is priced at US $199 and should replace the FX-8350 which was dropped down to US $179.99.
In addition to the FX-8370, AMD has also introduced two new "energy-efficient" eight-core CPUs which will both carry the 95W TDP, the FX-8370E and the FX-8320E. The FX-8370E features the same TurboCore clock as the FX-8370 but has a much lower base clock of 3.3GHz. The FX-8320E is pretty much the same as it features the same TurboCore clock of 4.0GHz as the FX-8320, but its base clock was dropped down to 3.2GHz. The Fx-8370E is priced at US $199.99 while the FX-8320E should sell at US $146.99
In addition to three new FX-8000 series CPUs, AMD has also adjusted prices across the entire FX-series range. The flagship FX-9590 CPU is now priced at US $229.99, the FX-9370 got dropped down to US $210.99 while the FX-8320 dropped down to US $146.99 while the aforementioned FX-8350 dropped down to US $179.99.
These three new FX-series CPUs as well as price adjustment across the entire range should make AMD's FX-series CPUs a bit more competitive with Intel CPUs of similar performance.
