Nvidia has announced that it has boosted up visual effects in Half-Life 2 and Portal on its new Tegra K1-based Shield Tablet. These new effects will be exclusive to Tegra K1 SoC and should bring visually rich experience which should be similar to PC versions of these games, according to Nvidia.
The effects now implemented in the mobile versions of the Half-Life 2 and the Portal games are "just as visually rich as the full PC editions of the game", all thanks to the 192-core Nvidia Tegra K1 GPU. The list of effects, according to Nvidia, include render-to-texture shadows, bump mapping, specular highlights, motion blur, and higher-quality texture filtering.
Nvidia was also keen to note that both games are optimized for the optional ultra-low-latency WiFi Direct Shield wireless controller for the Shield Tablet.
Nvidia Shield Tablet, as well as accessories which include the WiFi Direct Shield controller and Shield Tablet Cover should be already available worldwide.
