The mini-ITX form-factor has become quite popular for small form-factor (SFF) systems, gaming LAN rigs or even powerful but small desktop rigs, but it has always been quite hard to pack a lot of high-end features on such a small footprint. ASUS has now unveiled its latest mini-ITX motherboard, the Intel Z97 Express chipset based ASUS Maximus VII Impact, which has support for LGA1150 CPUs and features five daughterboards and quite a few neat features.
The standard specification list for the ASUS Maximus VII Impact includes two DDR3 DIMM slots, single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, four SATA 6Gbps ports for storage, Intel Gigabit Ethernet, six USB 3.0 ports and HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

Expreview.com, the Maximus VII Impact is definitely an interesting mini-ITX motherboard. What makes the Maximus VII Impact stand out is the fact that it comes with a total of five daughterboards include one with 8-phase CPU VRM, one with power, reset, clear CMOS, ROG Connect buttons and POST LED, called the ImpactControl II as well as the one that features two 4-pin PWM fan headers and LN2 mode toggle, called the Impact CoolHub.
In addition to these three, the ASUS Maximus VII Impact also features the mPCIe Combo IV board with mPCIe x1 slot on one side, which is populated with 802.11ac WLAN card and free M.2 PCIe 2.0 x4 slot on the other as well as the SupremeFX Impact II audio daughterboard with EMI-shielded 110dBA SNR codec, audio-grade capacitors, headphones amp and ground isolation.
ASUS Maximus VII Impact will definitely be one of the most popular mini-ITX Z97 Express chipset based motherboards on the market reserved for enthusiasts and hopefully we will have a chance to check it out in our lab as well.
Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date of the new ASUS Maximus VII Impact mini-ITX motherboard.
