Leadwerks is the first game engine, which also works with GNU/Linux. After a successful campaign on Kickstarter developers finally have a platform to work on Linux.
If it was your plan to develop games you had to use Windows as a developers environment and there almost not reasonable possibilities to work using a free operating system.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising 42'000 US-Dollars instead of the 20'000 US-Dollar target, and also thanks to a partnership with Canonical and Steam, the software is now ready for download and you can get it for Ubuntu/Debian as well as Windows.
Apart from that Josh Klint, the head behind the project, announced, there are two versions and they aren't free. The Indie version is going to set you back 92.99 Euro and the Standard variant of the programm costs an additional 92.99 Euro on top of that.
