Microsoft is about to lay off a great number of employees

Up to 12000 people

After Nokia has been acquired by Microsoft, it was just a matter of time before the OS giant started remodeling the company, and it looks like there's going to be a lot of layoffs.

After the acquiring of Nokia, Microsoft brought 30.000 new employees to the company, for a total staff of 127.000 people, which is a huge number, even higher than Apple or Google.

According to Bloomberg, Microsoft will lay off 10% of its staff pretty soon, maybe around next week. If you remember what happened in 2009, when Microsoft had to lay off 5800 due to the financial crysis, this 10% sounds pretty bad, since that 5800 people were just 5% of the staff. If this report will be true, it would be the biggest mass layoff in the history of the firm.

We just have to wait until 22nd July, when the CEO will release the new financial report, confirming or denying this rumor. Future will tell us if Bloomberg is right or not.
