Samsung's VR headset spotted online

SamMobile shows the first picture

The virtual reality (VR) market is definitely heating up with Oculus VR and Sony and it does not come as a surprise that Samsung also wants a piece of that market for itself.

SamMobile site managed to confirm the existence of the Gear VR, a virtual reality device that is expected to be showcased alongside the Galaxy Note 4 during IFA 2014 scheduled for September.

According to a picture that SamMobile published, the Gear VR will not be a standalone device as it will let you plug your Galaxy device to it via USB 3.0 cable, which will allow it to use the smartphone accelerometer, gyroscope and processing power for multiple features.

Google had a similar idea with its VR DIY Cardboard project but Samsung's Gear VR does sound and looks a lot better. According to the same picture, the Gear VR will also feature a touchpad. Apparently, Samsung has teamed up with Oculus VR for software development while the hardware will be developed by Samsung.

The virtual reality market is definitely getting more and more interesting and we can not help to wonder which company will be next to join the fun.
