MSI enters AMD B450 motherboards

With twelve models

During the last days, MSI has unveiled its motherboard lineup with a dozen of B450 motherboards. The company has unveiled a good mix split between full-size ATX and small form factor options. The line-up includes four models for each series: performance gaming, arsenal gaming and pro series.

The full-size options include the B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, B450 Gaming Plus, B450 Tomahawk, and B450-A Pro. If you are looking to build a compact system, MSI is offering the B450M Gaming Plus, B450I Gaming Plus AC, B450M Mortar Titanium, B450M Mortar, B450M Bazooka, B450M Pro-VDH, and B450M Pro-M2. In our opinion the two more interesting motherboards are the B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC and B450I Gaming Plus AC.

The B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC features a black PCB with black metal covers. Since the Gaming Pro motherboards usually are the flagship models within MSI's lineup we don't believe MSI will make an exception regarding AMD Ryzen. Having a more detailed look at the board we see two PCIe Gen 3.0 slots with steel reinforcements and three PCIe slots. On the storage side we see two M.2 slots and additionally there are six SATA ports. Apart from that, MSI offers the same features which you can find on X470 models. For example we find the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9260 module and Intel I211AT Gigabit LAN controller.

With the B450I Gaming Plus AC MSI adds a mini-ITX form factor and only one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Moreover, there are four SATA ports and a M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 for storage. MSI opts for the Realtek ALC897 audio codec, an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 module and Realtek 8111H Gigabit LAN controller. Overall this motherboard looks a smaller version of the B450 Gaming Plus that we have pictured a few days ago.

All models are available on Geizhals, the B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC and B450I Gaming Plus AC cost 134 Euro and 117 Euro respectively.
