Dell accidentally unveils Amber Lake CPUs

Inside upcoming XPS 13 ultrabooks

It looks like that a refreshed Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is on the way. The company has shown a convertible with both 7th Gen Intel Y-series processors and 8th Gen Intel Y-series "Amber Lake" CPUs. Intel has announced these CPUs during Computex 2018 however at the moment there isn't any technical details.

According to Dell's site, the upcoming ultrabooks will come with three 7th Gen Intel Y-series processors and two 8th Gen Intel Y-series "Amber Lake" CPUs. While we have already plenty of information about Intel Core i5 and Core i7 -7Y processors, we have finally some more details about the next generation. The upcoming Core i5-8200Y and Core i7-8500Y will feature 14nm++ manufacturing process and a boost clock close to 4GHz.

The memory comes in 16GB LPDDR3 configurations and they are clocked at 1866MHz. Storage wise we expect to see several configurations. The cheapest XPS 13 2-in-1 might come with only a SATA SSD, while the more expensive models might feature a M.2 PCIe SSD. The 13-inch display is available in both 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 resolutions with touchscreen options. Both versions of the display feature edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and Dell's Infinity Edge technology.

At the moment there aren't more details and we will keep an eye on it.
