Razer revamps its mechanical keyboards

With new optical switches

Razer has unveiled a pair of new keyboards today, the Huntsman and the Huntsman Elite, which offer new optical swichtes. They are the first models to feature opto-mechanical key switches. These switches combine IR actuation with mechanical parts.

With the optical switches, Razer aim to offer better responsiveness for gamers and mechanical feel for enthusiast users. According to Razer, the optical switches should offer a similar feel to the current Razer Green switches used in other keyboards but with 30 percent faster actuation. Furthermore the lifespan has been improved, the Huntsman keyboards are rated for 100 million keystroke.

The Huntsman comes with the opto mechanical switches and Chroma lighting for 149$, while the Huntsman Elite sports the same specifications with few more features for an extra 199$. The main difference between the two keyboards regard the underglow lighting which is available in the Huntsman Elite only. Both keyboards come with magnetic palm rest. Furthermore, the Elite version sports multimedia controls at the top of the keyboard.

Both keyboards are available today on Razer's store.
