MSI shows a prototype of a PCIe expansion card

Aircraft carrier for M.2 SSDs

MSI has finally shown a PCIe expansion card that can accomodate up to four M.2 SSDs. During the last months, we have seen similar solutions from ASUS and ASRock. It looks like that MSI wants join to the party as well with the Xpander-Aero card.

At the moment many motherboards come with two or three M.2 slots, however if you want install more M.2 NVMe SSDs you have to use a PCI expansion card. Like we mentioned above, the Xpander-Aero comes with a black matte PCB with four M.2 slots. Since four M.2 SSDs can generate some serious heat, MSI has added a big fan that should keep down the temperatures.

The Xpander-Aero will be launching in July but at the moment there isn't any information regarding the price.
