ASUS adds another workstation X299 motherboard

Featuring seven PCIe slots

ASUS has revealed the full specifications of its WS X299 Sage motherboard. This model belongs to the high-end series and it's recommended for Core i9 Pro processors. This board is designed for high-end desktops and workstations. Like the other two models of the same series, the upcoming WS X299 Sage sports the company's highest-grade eletrical components.

The WS X299 Sage is based on an CEB form factor and can be installed inside E-ATX case. There are seven full-sized PCIe slots with steel reinforcements that are connected to the CPU via a PLX chip so you can run quad-x16 setups. Compared to the previous version, this WS X299 Sage features a heavier CPU VRM heatsink that is connected using a heat pipe to another solid block. This way the chips should receive adequate cooling.

In the case of storage you'll find eight angled SATA ports, two U.2 ports and two M.2 slots. Looking for additional features we find a debug display, several onboard buttons and support for USB 3.1 ports. ASUS equips the WS X299 Sage with two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, six USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and four USB 2.0 connectors. Furthermore there are two Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports and the analogue audio panel with optical out.

So far ASUS has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding the WS X299 Sage.
