MSI has announced that its custom R9 290 and R9 290X graphics cards are now available. As a part of MSI's Gaming series of graphics cards, the new R9 290 Gaming and R9 290X Gaming graphics cards feature MSI's Twin Frozr IV Advanced dual-fan cooler.
Since both of these graphics cards are a part of MSI's Gaming series, they will be bundled with MSI's Gaming App which allows quick switching between pre-set working modes, silent, gaming and overclocking depending what you currently need the graphics card to do.
As noted earlier, both new graphics cards feature MSI's Twin Frozr IV Advanced which uses a large copper base combined with a large heatsink area cooled by two fans. The R9 290 Gaming works at 947MHz in Silent mode, 977MHz in Gaming mode and 1007MHz in the OC mode for the GPU, while 4GB of GDDR5 memory remained at reference 5000MHz.
The R9 290X Gaming on the other hand works at 1000MHz in Silent mode, 1030MHz in Gaming mode and 1040MHz in the OC mode and also comes with 4GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000MHz and paired up with a 512-bit memory interface.
As announced both graphics cards should be available on retail/e-tail shelves pretty soon but unfortunately MSI did not shed any details regarding the actual price premium on these Gaming series R9 290 and R9 290X graphics cards.
