EIZO releases FORIS FG2421 240Hz gaming monitor

Forget about 120Hz

EIZO has announced the new 23.5-inch FORIS FG2421, the world's first gaming monitor that has a 240Hz refresh rate as well a low input lag and gaming preset modes for FPS, racing, fighting and other fast-action games.

While most conventional gaming monitors stick to 120Hz (144Hz) refresh rate, EIZO's FORIS FG2421 240Hz one uses Turbo 240 feature that converts 120Hz signals to 240Hz by simply controlling the blinking of the LED backlight. It also can brag with a response time of less than 1ms. The rest of the specifications include 1920x1080 resolution VA LCD panel with viewing angle of 176° and a high native contrast ratio of 5000:1. It packs HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI-D inputs, a USB hub for various peripherals and a line-out and headphone jacks.

It also features two color modes set for FPS (first-person shooter) or RTS (real-time strategy) games co-developed with professional gamers from Fnatic. According to EIZO, the new FORIS FG2421 should also maintain a refresh rate of 120Hz when the Turbo 240 is off and use EIZO's own hybrid technology for providing flicker-free images at any brightness level and also features a sensor that detects ambient brightness and adjust its own brightness accordingly.

The EIZO FORIS FG2421 will be backed by five years of warranty but EIZO did not announce the price or the availability date of the new FORIS FG2421.
