Intel officially announces Haswell-based NUC

The D54250WYK NUC kit with Core i5-4250U

Although it was already detailed and spotted back at PAX Prime show, Intel has now officially announced the new D54250WYK NUC kit that will be based on the Core i5-4250 dual-core Haswell CPU.

The Core i5-4250 dual-core Haswell CPU inside the new D54250WYK NUC kit runs at 1.3GHz base and 2.6GHz Turbo clocks and features support for Intel Hyper Threading. The chip packs 3MB of cache, has a 15W TDP and features Intel HD 5000 graphics part that runs at 200MHz base and clocks up to 1GHz maximum clock depending on the load. The Core i5-4250 is naturally soldered on the motherboard, has an active cooling solution and includes two display outputs via DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, so it is 4K capable.

The rest of the features include two SODIMM slots with support for up to 16GB of DDR3 1333/1600 memory as well as full-length mSATA/mini PCI-express slot and one half-length mini PCI-Express slot. It also comes with four USB 3.0 ports (two on the back and front), two USB 2.0 ports via internal header, internal SATA port, Gigabit Ethernet as well as infrared sensor.

It ships with 65W external power supply unit, supports standard VESA mount and backed by three years of warranty from Intel. Unfortunately, we still do not know the precise price as Intel did not announce it but we will certainly keep an eye for it to show up in retail/e-tail.
