AMD Hawaii GPU to debut in FirePro in September

Consumer graphics cards coming later

AMD's Hawaii GPU is currently pretty much the only confirmed GPU that will be a part of AMD's upcoming Volcanic Islands series of consumer graphics cards and according to a report from Sweclockers.com, it appears that it will make its debut in AMD's FirePro Professional series graphics cards in September.

Although this still does not exclude the launch of Hawaii GPU based consumer Radeon graphics by the end of this year, Sweclockers note that AMD might release or even paper launch the new Hawaii GPU based FirePro Professional graphics card in September. The report also notes that AMD's Radeon Volcanic Islands series graphics cards are currently scheduled to launch alongside DICE/EA's Battlefield 4 title as it is quite clear that both AMD and EA have put a lot of effort in that partnership.

Recent rumors also noted that AMD might not use the same naming scheme for upcoming Volcanic Islands Radeon series but no precise information was revealed.

Unfortunately, even if the Hawaii Pro based FirePro shows up in September it will be quite hard to get a clear picture regarding the performance of the upcoming Radeon graphics cards since FirePro solutions are usually highly optimized for OpenCL and GPGPU.
