If you go to the Bionic research database these days and search for a user called Dresdenboy, then you'll find an AMD Steamroller based APU. The chip listed is an engineering sample and might be part of AMD's upcoming Kaveri or Berlin Server APU line-up.


Dresdenboy even mentions in his blog, that this engineering sample is a Kaveri APU, which is still in the engineering phase. A closer look at the ES code (2M186092H4467_23/18/12/05_1304) shows, that there is quite some information hidden. For exmple, we see that turbo clocks will be at 2.3 GHz and base clock will be 1.8 GHz and furthermore the northbridge clocks at 1.2 GHz. You also get to see the clock frequency of the integrated graphics unit, which is 500 MHz and last but not least there is the number "1304", which describes, that there is a KV SPECTRE MOBILE 35W (1304) GPU.

What's so interesting on the story is the fact, that apparently the Steamroller architecture will also be used in mobile APU's, which feature a TDP of 35 Watt. So far it has only been known that there will be the Desktop Kaveri APU's with Steamroller architecture, GCN modules and 65 Watt to 100 Watt dissipating power. Another thing that has already been reported quite some time ago is the fact, that Steamroller should also feature improved instruction per clock performance, which hopefully helps AMD to close the gap to Intel.
