Nvidia introduces five new mobile GPUs

For performance and mainstream segment

Nvidia has officially announced five new mobile Geforce GPUs that will be a part of its Geforce 700M series. The list, according to Nvidia, includes Geforce GT 750M, GT 745M and the Geforce 740M aimed at the performance market segment and the Geforce GT 735M and Geforce GT 720M for mainstream market segment.

The entire lineup will feature Nvidia GPU Boost 2.0, Nvidia Optimus and Nvidia Geforce Experience technologies and should be, according to Nvidia, supported by all major notebook manufacturer and show up in various notebooks in the next few months.

The Geforce GT 750M is based on either 28nm GK107 or the GK106 GPU, has 384 CUDA cores and works at up to 967 GPU clock plus Boost. It will feature up with up to 2GB of GDDR5/DDR3 memory clocked at up to 5.0GHz and with a 128-bit memory interface. The Geforce GT 745M and the GT 740M are both based on the 28nm GK107 GPU with 384 CUDA cores and paired up with 2GB of GDDR5/DDR3 memory clocked at up to 5.0GHz and paired up with a 128-bit memory interface. The Geforce GT 745M ended up with a up to 837MHz GPU clock plus Boost while the Geforce GT 740M should work at up to 980MHz plus Boost.

The mainstream segment will be filled with the Geforce GT 735M and the Geforce GT 720M. The Geforce GT 735M is based on the 28nm GK208 GPU, feature up to 384 CUDA cores and have up to 2GB of DDR3 memory clocked at up to 2.0GHz. It has a narrower 64-bit memory interface and will work at 889MHz plus Boost. The Geforce 720M is based on an older 28nm Fermi GPU and features 96 CUDA cores. It has up to 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 64-bit memory interface. It works at 938MHz plus Boost for the GPU and memory ended clocked at up to 2GHz.

Nvidia also published a slide that compares its newest members of the Geforce 700M series with Intel's HD 4000 IGP.

As noted earlier, these new GPUs will start to show up in notebooks from most major notebook manufacturers in the next few months.
