Plextor M8Pe NVMe SSD price details revealed

Still coming in August

While we already wrote about Plextor's upcoming M8Pe NVMe SSD earlier, today we have some more details regarding the actual price of the drive, which suggest it will be one of the cheapest SSDs around.

The Plextor M8Pe SSD is going to be available in two different versions, including a PCI-Express card version and the M.2 form-factor, both coming with a heatsink that should prevent thermal throttling issues seen on some earlier M.2 SSDs.

Earlier tests show that the Plextor M8Pe is capable of reaching sequential performance of 2397MB/s for read and 1290MB/s for write.

The M.2 version is very interesting since this is one of the rare, if not only M.2 SSD with a heatsink.

According to new details, the Plextor M8Pe should be rather aggressively priced at €73, €123, €228 and €339 for 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1024GB versions, respectively. These prices puts it way ahead both Toshiba OCZ RD400 and the Samsung SSD 950 Pro.

Hopefully, we will hear more information regarding the Plextor M8Pe NVMe SSD during Gamescom 2016 show which kicks off next week.
