Intel has launched its newest line of high-performance client SSDs, the SSD 530-series. Although it did not detailed the precise specs for various SKUs, Intel did note that new 530-series is based on latest version of the Sandforce SF-2281 controller paired up with Intel's own 20nm MLC NAND chips.

To be available in 7mm-thick 2.5-inch, 80mm M.2 and mSATA form-factors in retail as well as 80mm M.2 and mSATA form-factors for OEMs, the new 530-series will be available in 80, 120, 280, 240, 360 and 480GB capacities in retail and 80, 120, 180 and 360GB capacities for OEMs.

The new Intel 530-series features SATA 6Gbps interface and features transfer speeds of up to 540MB/s read and up to 490MB/s write with 4K random performance of 41,000 IOPS for read and 80,000K for write.

Although not announced by Intel, the new 530 series is expected to be priced somewhere around the same price of the currently available SSD 525 and 520-series models, depending on the region and the actual SKU.

Of course, we still need a review or two to see how these new SSDs actually perform in real-world scenarios.
