As rumored earlier, during its annual WWDC developers conference, Apple announced a refresh for its Macbook Air lineup that will be now equipped with Haswell CPUs, better WiFi and much better battery life but will retain the nearly identical look and form factor.
Already available for order via Apple's site in the US, the new Macbook Air refresh will feature Intel Haswell Core i5 and Core i7 CPU and, of course, a better Intel HD 5000 IGP that should bring up to 40 percent better graphics performance, according to Apple. The refreshed Macbook Air lineup will still feature the same 11-inch and 13-inch versions that will, according to Apple, have up to 9 hours, on the 11-inch version, and up to 12 hours, on the 13-inch version, of battery life. This is quite a boost from 5 and 7 hours with previous generation of Macbook Air.
In addition to Haswell CPUs, the new Macbook Air line will feature the new 802.11ac WiFi and come with SSD as standard storage option. Both models will be available in 128 and 256GB versions.
As noted, both models are already selling via Apple's US site with a starting price of US $999 for the 11-inch and US $1099 for the 13-inch version.
