Apple releases new iPod Touch 16GB

Sans the iSight camera

Apple has silently and rather surprisingly released the new iPod Touch that features 16GB of storage space, same 4-inch Retina screen, dual-core A5 chip but lacks the 5-megapixel iSight camera.

It is still not clear if the new model will be available in Europe but the new Apple iPod Touch 16GB is Apple's way of offering a cheaper alternative to 32GB and 64GB iPod Touch models that are already available. Apple also ditched all the color options so the new one will only be available in black and silver versions.

The new iPod Touch 16GB still retains the front FaceTime HD camera and also comes with bundled Apple EarPods. The price went down to US $229, which puts it at US $30 higher than the last generation iPod Touch but also US $70 cheaper than the standard 32GB iPod Touch that features 5-megapixel iSight camera.
