Asus launches RT-AC56U dual-band AC1200 router

Up to 1167Mbps on 5GHz and 2.4GHz frequencies

Asus has launched the new RT-AC56U dual-band router that support the new 802.11ac WiFi standard and can achieve a total of 1167Mbps when both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are enabled.

The new Asus RT-AC56U features a dual-core 800MHz CPU paired up with 256MB of DDR3 memory in order to achieve 867Mbps on 5GHz and 300Mbps on 2.4GHz band. The rest of the specs include one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port and has an ability to be turned into a file, printer, 3G/4G server.

Thanks to the Asus AiRadar, the router can strengthen connections based on the number of devices linked to it and their relative position to the router. It also comes with Asus AiCloud app that allows access to the router from any position via Android or iOS smart device.

Asus' design of some of the latest routers certainly shows that these should not generally be just an ugly box that you want to hide somewhere in the corner but rather proudly display anywhere in the room.

Unfortunately, the price or the actual availability date have not been announced.
