OCZ has launched a new addition to its Vertex line of solid state drives, the new Vertex 450.
The new Vertex 450 SSD features an updated version of the Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller that we already had a chance to see on its quite praised and impressive Vector SSD which is now paired up with a 20nm NAND flash chips. The new Vertex 450 will pretty much replace the 25nm-based Vertex 4 SSD lineup and should provide superior, cost-effective SSD storage and features.
The new Vertex 450 will offer up to 540MB/s of read and up to 530MB/s of write performance while 4K random write performance is set at up to 90,000 IOPS, making it quite an impressive SSD. To be available in 128 to 512GB capacities, the new Vertex 450 comes with a similar 7mm 2.5-inch case we seen with Vector SSD.
The new Barefoot 3 M10 controller is fine-tuned to deliver high speed sequential transfers and consistent sustained performance over time, regardless if it is compressed or uncompressed files. It also adds AES-256 encryption as well as power-optimized clock.
The new Vertex 450 comes bundled with a 3.5-inch adapter bracket, Acronis True Image cloning software and is backed by a 3-year warranty. The new Vertex 450 should be available pretty soon with MSRP set at US $129.99 for the 128GB, US $234.99 for the 256GB one and US $499.99 for the 512GB model.
