Intel's HD 4600 compared to Radeon HD 8670D

AMD pulls ahead

Although Intel's upcoming integrated graphics solution that will be available with some Haswell CPUs will be quite impressive in terms of performance it appears that they are not near to what AMD has to offer with its Richland based APUs. Chinese site manged to compare the Intel HD 4000 and AMD's Radeon HD 8670D showing that AMD is still somewhat faster.
The Intel HD 4600 is not the fastest of the bunch as Intel also has the recently and officially revealed Iris and Iris Pro HD 5000/5100/5200 iGPUs that will be available with some Haswell CPUs but the HD 4000 series, including the HD 4600, will be a part of many desktop and mobile CPUs.

When compared to Radeon HD 8670D that will be a GPU part in the A10-6800K and A10-6700 Richland APUs, the HD 4600 is quite slower scoring P1285 marks in 3DMark 11 while AMD's solution manged to get P1508.

Of course, Intel's HD 5000 series Iris and Iris Pro should end up to be significantly faster since they will feature on-board eDRAM cache as well as 40 Execution Units. In theory, the HD 5000 iGPU series should be at least twice as fast as the HD 4600 GPU making them the most impressive iGPU that Intel ever had.

Of course, AMD is also preparing Kaveri APUs, scheduled to appear by the end of this year, that will use GCN architecture and provide much more performance than upcoming Richland APU offering.

In any case, upcoming and future iGPUs will certainly destroy the entry-level discrete GPU market as performance of the APUs is becoming more and more impressive.
