Towards the end of last week a rumor surfaced that Corsair might stand in front of an acquisition by the venture capital firm Francisco Partners. We were quite surprise by this news, since we simply couldn't believe that Corsair would sell its business.
Meanwhile Corsair issued a statement to clarify the situation. Unanswered acquisition talks or even rumors can reduce trust in a company's management. Therefore it was almost time for clarification. Corsair mentioned, that Francisco Partners is interested in becoming a shareholder. The company would like to invest 75 Million US-Dollar.
Furthremore Corsair noted, that they have been running a profitable business for 19 years now and they don't feel any need to sell the company. But on the other hand investments from Venture Capital firms like Francisco Partners are necessary to expand their business. The latest example for that, when looking at Corsairs history, comes from the acquisition of Raptor Gaming.
