According to Yoon Bu-hyun, LG's vice-president of mobile, the company will come up with a flexible smartphone before the end of the year.
The report comes from Wall Street Journal, and company already made indications regarding it in its financial conference call. The push comes as an answer for reporting 91 percent lower net profits when compared to the same period last year and most of it was blamed on poor LG TV sales.
According to the report, the flexible OLED display will not only be curved but also shatter proof which would be a nice addition to any smartphone. Its main competitor is Samsung and LG is quite keen on being first to deliver such device as it already showcased a 320x240 prototype back in 2008.
LG also plans to be the first to deliver curved OLED TV as well and we might see one before the end of the year as well. Unfortunately, the first 55-inch model will surely be quite an expensive piece of technology.
