Samsung hat die mittlerweile vierte Ausgabe seines Galaxy S Smartphones der Weltöffentlichkeit präsentiert. Die Koreaner wollen dabei auf das Feedback zahlreicher Kunden gehört haben und spendierten dem neuen Geräte nicht nur ein grössere, sowie ein noch höher auflösendes Display sondern auch ein leicht überarbeitetes Design.

Angenehme Auswirkungen auf die Optik hat beispielsweise die silberne Einfassung des Smartphones. Ebenfalls angenehm ist die Tatsache, dass Galaxy S IV nicht grösser, sondern kleiner als sein Vorgänger ist. Trotz dem Display, das um 0.299 Zoll auf 4.99 Zoll gewachsen ist, wurde das S IV geringfügig schlanker und schmaler. Liegt es auf dem Tisch, dann erhebt es sich um lediglich 7.9 Millimeter.

Zu Beginn wird das Gerät in zwei unterschiedlichen Farben erhältlich sein: Black Mist und White Frost. Zahlreiche weitere Farbvariationen des Gehäuses soll im Verlaufe des Jahres folgen. Beim Galaxy S IV findet man darüber hinaus zum ersten Mal ein Full HD Super AMOLED Display, das für ein ausgezeichnetes Bild sorgt, was bei einer Pixeldichte von 441 DPI auch zu erwarten ist. Geschützt wird das Panel durch Corning's neustes Gorilla Glass 3. Im Innern des Geräts findet man einen 1.9 GHz schnellen Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Prozessor, der gepaart mit zwei Gigabyte Arbeitsspeicher problemlos Android 4.2.2 mit Leistung versorgt.

Schaut man sich nach Kameras um, dann findet man auf der Rückseite einen 13-Megapixel Sensor und auf der Front-Seite gibt es ein weiteres Modul, das mit zwei Megapixel auflöst. Neben HSPA+4 42 Mbps unterstützt dieses Smartphone auf 4G LTE
