ASRock shows X299 OC Formula motherboard

Bye bye yellow

Judging by the sheer number of rumors that are surfacing today, the Intel’s new high-end desktop processors and motherboards are very close. During the upcoming weeks we should see all the new models and several motherboards as well. Thanks to a picture from our Italian overclocking team member Franco “RULE” Valtulina, we now know details regarding the upcoming X299 OC Formula motherboard.

At the moment we have only one picture available but we might add more during the next days. The full list of specifications as well as detailed pictures can most likely be expected to surface during the upcoming weeks, since by then the NDA is supposed to be lifted. Compared to the high-end X99 OC Formula, ASRock is changing the color scheme and also the design has been improved. Since this motherboard is designed for overclockers there are only four DIMM slots.

There are five full-sized PCIe slots with steel reinforcements, one PCIe x4 slot and one PCIe x1 slot. In the case of storage you’ll find eight angled SATA ports and two M.2 slots. Due to the placement of the SATA ports, we believe that two ports will be based on an ASMedia chip. Looking for additional features we find a debug display, several onboard buttons and support for USB 3.1 ports. Although this board should be as simple as possible, we see a dedicated audio solution in the bottom left corner.
