Yesterday AMD has shown three new Ryzen 7 CPUs and already at launch day it looks like they’ve achieved a very nice result doing extreme overclocking. During the show, an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU has been pushed to 5.2GHz while running Cinebench R15 and it looks like those chips are capable of breaking records.


The chip was cooled with liquid nitrogen and the voltage was bumped up to 1.875 volts. In order to stably overclock the CPU to 5.2GHz it had to be cooled using liquid nitrogen to keep the temperature at almost -200°C. The score is absolutely amazing especially when keeping the clock speed in mind. At the mentioned 5.2GHz the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU was able to score 2449 points in the multi-thread test breaking the previous world record of 2155 points, which was achieved with an Intel Core i7-5960X at 5.37 GHz.

At the moment is not yet clear if the CPU was already maxed out or not. The Ryzen 7 1800X is the new flagship CPU from AMD, featuring on 8-core and 16-thread. This model works with a base clocks of 3.6 GHz and boost clocks of 4.0 GHz. Other details include an L2 + L3 cache of 20 MB (4 MB + 16 MB) and a TDP of 95W.
