Nvidia Volta allegedly launching this year

New rumors also on Pascal refresh as well

According to the latest rumors from Fox Business, the next generation of GPUs from Nvidia will arrive this year. Nvidia’s Volta GPUs might be based on a custom 12nm FinFET manufacturing process from TSMC and at a first stage the chips will only be available for enterprise market. Apart from that it’s expected that the Volta based Gaming chips will launch in 2018.

Other than that there are also new rumors on the Pascal refresh and it will most likely include the launch of the GTX 1080 Ti. This particular cards is supposed to be as fast as the Titan X Pascal, that is based on the GP102 GPU. Apart from that there are new rumors that the GTX XX70 series cards could receive a little upgrade in the shape of GDDR5X memory, allowing for higher clock speeds.

Volta based GPUs for gaming are most likely to hit the market in 2018 and they will replace the current Pascal based graphics card line. So far there aren’t many additional details, yet Pascal is supposed to make use of GDDR6 and HBM2 memory depending on the model.

What could be interesting is that from February 27th until March 3rd the GDC (Game Developers Conference) is going to take place and NVIDIA - as usual - will attend as well. Maybe we will even see some new products there.
