Samsung stops Galaxy Note 7 production/sales

Advises previous owners to shut down and return

After a couple of replacements Galaxy Note 7 units caught fire again, Samsung has both stopped production and sales as well as issued a notice advising previous owners to shut down their phones and return them to sellers.

Samsung just can't get a break and it appears that the Galaxy Note 7 has a lot more problems than just a faulty battery as some of the replacement units have also caught fire, forcing the company to not only halt production and sales but also ask those that already have Galaxy Note 7 to turn it off immediately and return it to seller or Samsung.

In an official press release, Samsung has asked all its global partners to stop sales and exchanges of Galaxy Note 7 while further investigation takes place and has updated the "recall page" with the most recent information on where to return the device.

In a FAQ part of the page, Samsung advises that if you own a Galaxy Note 7, you should power it down and take advantage of the remedies available and either exchange the Galaxy Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge with a refund of the price difference or get a full refund. All that exchange their Galaxy Note 7 device will also get a US $25 gift card.

This is definitely a bad situation with Samsung which will cost it dearly, especially now that the new iPhone is out. Hopefully the company will be able to rebound and once again offer some competition to Apple. Otherwise, Apple will be jacking up prices even higher.
