While some rumors suggested that it could come as early as October this year, it appears that we won't see any Zen-based CPUs before February 2017, as suggested by a new report.

While AMD said that Zen architecture will ship in late 2016 with first mainstream CPUs coming in early 2017, everybody is eager to see what it will offer in the real world, especially with some big promises from AMD.

AMD's high-end CPUs based on Zen CPU architecture will launch in February 2017, alongside the new high-end AM4 X370 chipset.

As you probably know, AM4 chipset will be the new chipset with unified socket which will replace both AM3+ and FM2+ motherboards and support both the upcoming Summit Ridge CPUs as well as Bristol Ridge APUs, which should come at a later date. It will bring support for DDR4 memory, PCIe 3.0, USB 3.1 Gen2 and support for NVMe and SATA Express.

The new socket will also bring impressive reduction in power consumption, allowing OEMs and system integrators to create more efficient systems and we will probably see a lot of living-room focused systems based on this platform.

Hopefully there won't be any new delays and we will finally get to check out those promises made by AMD in February 2017.
