Crucial preparing 2TB MX300 SSD

Coming soon

A yet to be announced 2TB version of Crucial's MX300 SSD has been spotted listed on Amazon, suggesting that it should become available soon.

Listed at US $549.99 on Amazon.com, the Crucial MX300 2TB will be one of the rare 2TB SSDs on the market, with Samsung offering two models, 2TB 850 EVO and 2TB 850 Pro, as well as some other drives.

In case you missed it, we are talking about a standard 2.5-inch form-factor SATA 6Gbps interface SSD.

The original MX300 was based on first-generation Micron 256Gbit 3D NAND and available in 275GB, 525GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities. It offers sequential performance of up to 530MB/s and 510MB/s, with random 4K read and write performance of up to 92,000 and 83,000 IOPS.

With the new 2TB version of the MX300 SSD, Crucial has switched to 384Gbit 32-layer 3D NAND and it should still be based on the same Marvel 88SS1074 controller.

Priced at US $549.99, the Crucial 2TB MX300 is significantly cheaper than any other 2TB SSD on the market and according to details, it should be available sometime in September at select retail/e-tail stores, with pre-order starting as of today.
