Sudden Strike 4 in the works

Explicitly no reboot

The first version of Sudden Strike was release in October 2000 and I personally remember having spent countless hours playing this at LAN parties back in the days. Already back than it was a great strategy game and it didn't take too long until Sudden Strike 2 and 3 were released. After that, nine years have passed until finally there is information on Sudden Strike 4.

Kalypso Media has annouced that Sudden Strike 4 will be the successor of Sudden Strike 3. The game will feature larger maps than the predecessor, updated graphics as well as new scenarios. The setting will be World War 2 and players can command more than 100 different units. Apart from that it will be possible to choose from three differen commanders per faction and they'll all have diffrerent key skills depending on their main strategy. This part reminds me a bit about Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour, which was the first game to introduce such a tactical element. Apart from that there are 20 different single player modes available which sounds like quite a lot of game time is going to wait for strategy fans.

So far it looks like the game is going to be released on 5th of May 2017. In terms of hardware requirements Kalypso Media is recommending an Intel Core i5-4590, 8GB of RAM, a NVIDIA GTX 980 or a Radeon R9 390X as well as 12GB of disk space. This sounds like we can expect som proper eye candy.
