DisplayPort on GTX 1070/1080 don't work with Vive

Trouble in Pascal world

According to the latest report, DisplayPort output on the Nvidia GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards based on Pascal GPU do not work with HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) headset, despite the fact that earlier generation did.

The original report came from Tomshardware.co.uk, which have confirmed the issue in their own tests. There are plenty of similar reports on Nvidia Geforce forum but currently there is no known solution.

Apparently, if you hook up the HTC Vive to the GTX 1080/1070 graphics card via DisplayPort you will get an HDM error. This is a big issue considering that the reference GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 Founder Edition graphics cards only have a single HDMI 2.0 output which is usually used to connect it to the monitor.

The Nvidia Geforce GTX 900 series did not suffer from same issues so hopefully Nvidia will be able to fix it with a simple driver fix.
