The latest set of official Polaris slides from AMD just show how good the upcoming Radeon RX 480 is in Virtual Reality (VR) gaming, getting 6.3 score in Steam VR benchmark.
Compared to the R9 380 in the slide, the RX 480 is really close to the Radeon R9 390 and completely leaves the R9 380 behind, which scores just 3.6.
As rumored earlier, the RX 480 should have performance somewhere between R9 390 and the R9 390X, while having a much lower TDP.
The RX 480 is based on AMD's Polaris 10 Ellesmere XT GPU with 2304 Stream Processors. According to newest rumors, it should be working at 1080MHz for the GPU base and 1266MHz for the GPU Boost clocks and give both the R9 Nano and the GTX 980 a lot of trouble, offering much better performance per watt ratio.
In case you missed it, the RX 480 is scheduled to launch on June 29th.
