As Samsung's 850 series has been reserved for those with deeper pockets, those looking for a cheaper, budget-oriented but also higher capacity SSD, would be happy to know that Samsung has added 500GB model to its 750 EVO lineup.
Introduced back in February this year, Samsung's 750 EVO SSD lineup was limited to 120GB and 250GB models, but luckily, Samsung has now announced a higher 500GB model that should be available worldwide soon.
Same as the Samsung 850 EVO, the Samsung 750 EVO also uses the same Samsung MGX controller but switches from 32-layer 128Gbit TLC V-NAND to standard 128Gbit 16nm planar TLC NAND and comes with 256MB of DRAM cache.
This combination of controller and NADN results in slightly lower 4K random performance and the 750 EVO SSD series comes with a lower three-year warranty.
Specification wise, the new 500GB model of the 750 EVO SSD series offers sequential performance of up to 540MB/s for read and up to 520MB/s for write. Unfortunately, Samsung did not offer any details regarding the 4K random performance but we suspect it could be similar to the 250GB 750 EVO SSD model, reaching 97K IOPS for read and 88K IOPS for write.
The Samsung 750 EVO SSD series also comes with Samsung's proprietary TurboWrite, Dynamic Thermal Guard protection and RAPID Mode features as well as feature AES 256-bit hardware encryption.
The Samsung 500GB 750 EVO SSD will also be backed by a three-year warranty and will have a 100TB written (TBW) endurance rating.
According to Samsung, the new 500GB 750 EVO SSD series model should be available in early June with an MSRP of US $149.99.
