We heard about Starbreeze's StarVR virtual reality (VR) headset back at Computex 2015 show last year and this high-end VR device certainly caught a lot of attention. Now, Starbreeze has signed a joint venture with Acer to bring the device to the market.
A partnership with Acer will certainly give Starbreeze Studios enough market presence, distribution and manufacturing capability to bring the new StarVR to reality and Acer gets a good presence in the VR market, something that is slowly but surely becoming quite important.
In case you missed it back in June last year, the StarVR is a high-end VR headset with two 5.5-inch LCD displays with 5120x1440 resolution (2560x1440 pixels per eye), a 360-degree head-tracking technology and 130-degree vertical and 210-degree horizontal field of view.
StarVR was developed after Starbreeze Studios acquired a French VR company, InfinitEye and company already announced its own VR engine, Valhalla.
The StarVR could bring significant change to the VR market is Acer plays its cards right but we still do not have any information regarding the price or the actual availability date for the StarVR headset.
