One of the AMD Polaris architecture features, that was pretty much overlooked, is that it actually supports up to 240Hz displays, which is quite an improvement compared to what we had earlier.
According to AMD's recently published Polaris site, there will be plenty of improvements coming with the new Polaris architecture, including earlier mentioned 2x improvement in performance per watt as well as better media processing, with built-in H.265 encoding capability and 4K 60Hz support.
What is more important and overlooked is that it actually support DisplayPort 1.3 and HDMI 2.0b standards, offering both HDR support as well as support 240Hz at 1080p and 1440p resolutions. When it comes to higher resolutions, Polaris architecture will peak at up to 190Hz for ultra-wide 1440p screens, up to 120Hz for 4K/UHD and up to 60Hz for 5K screens.
Hopefully we will see some monitors with higher refresh rate after these next-gen GPUs are launched that will be able to use the maximum refresh rate of the Polaris GPU architecture.
