Nvidia releases Shield Tablet K1 firmware 1.2 update

Brings Vulkan API support and Android 6.0.1 features

Nvidia has released the newest firmware version 1.2 update for its Shield Tablet K1 bringing both support for Vulkan API as well as all Android 6.0.1 features to the tablet.

According to the release notes, the new fimware 1.2 update for Shield Tablet K1 brings all Android 6.0.1 changes to the tablet, which include repositioned navigation buttons in landscape mode, updated emojis, Shield Camera app launch via power button double tap, and "do not disturbed until next alarm" feature.

The rest of the updates that come with Android 6.0.1 include support for Andorid Doze mode, additional power optimizations, USB Midi support, memory compression enhancements, improved WiFi connectivity when coming from sleep mode, fixed issues with Compass, Gamepad Mapper, moving apss to SD card and Doom 3 HDMI output issues as well as repositioned Lasso Capture icons and overall stability and security enhancements.

The new update also includes the Andorid 6.0 Security Patch Level released on March 1st, which is quite important.

Nvidia was also keen to note that the update for the original Shield Tablet, including the LTE models, will be available in next few weeks.
