According to the earlier report, it appears that Apple was looking into a possibility of a takeover deal with Imagination Technologies. Newest details suggest that Apple has decided against it, at least for the next six months.
Imagination Technologies is not doing great lately, with its CEO stepping down in the middle of the big restructuring.
According to a report from Ars Technica UK, Apple was in advanced talks with Imagination Technologies that would eventually lead to a takeover deal. This rumor also boosted Imagination shares about 20 percent over the last weekend.
As you already know, Apple already licenses Imagination's PowerVR graphics technology for its custom SoCs and such deal would provide Apple with a company that could be only focused on delivering better graphics for future Apple devices.
Unfortunately for Imagination, the newest report from Bloomberg suggest that Apple only had a preliminary talks with Imagination Technologies but has decided not to go for it, as it has been reported to the U.K. Takeover Panel. This also means that Apple won't make another bid for Imagination Technologies in the next six months, which does not mean it will happen eventually.
