Transcend unveils 1TB M.2 SSD for "ultrathins"

Up to 560MB/s and up to 1TB in capacity

Transcend has unveiled a new addition to its MTS line of M.2 SSDs, the new MTS800 lineup, which will offer sequential performance of up to 560MB/s and be available in capacities of up to 1TB.

Aimed at ultrathin notebooks, the new Transcend MTS800 M.2 SSD lineup will succeed the earlier available MTS400 and MTS600 line, both available in capacities of up to 512GB. The new MTS800 line, on the other hand, will be available in capacities ranging from 32GB to 1TB and comes in a standard M.2 2280 (80mm long) form-factor.

Based on MLC NAND flash memory and featuring SATA 6Gbps interface, the new Transcend MTS800 lineup will offer sequential read and write performance of up to 560MB/s and 460MB/s, respectively.

It also supports S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and NCQ command as well as Intel's Smart Response Technology (ISRT).

Unfortunately, Transcend did not reveal any details regarding the price of its MTS800 lineup but did note that it is backed by a three-year warranty.
