Need for Speed hardware requirements revealed

Needs at least GTX 970 for 1080p at 60 FPS

Ghost Games has revealed minimum and recommended PC system requirements for its upcoming Need for Speed game and it appears that you will need quite a decent system with at least GTX 970 or R9 290 if you want to get 60 FPS at 1080p resolution and high settings.

According to the Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games, the new Need for Speed will return to its greatness with this new reboot and by listening to the fans, the new game will deliver "an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed."

When it comes to system requirements, the new Need for Speed will need quite a decent hardware. The minimum system requirements, which are meant for getting 30FPS in the game at 720p resolution and low settings including Intel's Core i3-4130 or equivalent CPU with four threads, 6GB of RAM and either an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti 2GB or AMD HD 7850 2GB graphics card.

The recommended system requirements push that up a notch with Intel Core i5-4690 CPU or equivalent CPU with four threads, 8GB of RAM and either Nvidia GTX 970 4GB or AMD R9 290 4GB graphics card.

Both the minimum and recommended requirements also include Windows 7 or later 64-bit OS and 30GB of free HDD/SSD space.

As announced earlier, Need for Speed for PC is scheduled to be released on March 17th and Ghost Games have promised that it will have both 4K/UHD textures and an unlocked frame rate, something that consoles simply can't cope with.
