Intel Skylake bug freezes system on complex workloads

BIOS update should fix the problem

It appears that Intel's Skylake CPU suffers from a specific bug which causes those CPUs to crash the system under some complex workload, hunting prime numbers with Prime95 software.

Spotted by a team of mathematicians, called the Mersenne Community, the bug only occurs under certain complex workload, or hunting down prime numbers with Prime95 software. The same team has found all the record prime numbers in the last 20 years and has noted that handcoded assembly language used for the last 20 years on tens of thousands systems running 24/7 was only having issues on Skylake-based systems.

The bug manifests itself with a system freeze when used with applications and the team has provided Intel all the settings in order to replicate the issue and diagnose the problem. According to Intel's report, the issue is not big and only occurs under hose specific complex workload condition and Intel has already promised a fix in terms of a BIOS update.

Hopefully, this is only a minor bug and will not be evident in any other cases.
