Gigabyte has unveiled yet another Geforce GTX 980 series graphics card based on Nvidia's well known GM204 Maxwell GPU, the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 980 Waterforce, which features a custom liquid cooling system.
According to Gigabyte, the new Geforce GTX 980 Waterforce (model GV-N980WAOC-4GD), combines Nvidia Maxwell GPU with Gigabyte's exclusive technologies, high-quality components and features an All-in-One (AiO) closed-loop liquid cooler. Gigabyte also uses its GPU Gauntlet Sorting to pick the top-notch GPUs for the GTX 980 Waterforce.
The AiO closed-loop liquid cooler is a full-cover design that cools the GPU, VRM and MOSFET part of the graphics card. It uses a low noise pump located on the water block which is connected to a 120mm radiator via 45cm SFP tubes, meant to prevent leak and low coolant evaporation rate. According to Gigabyte, the GTX 980 Waterforce is up to 38.8 percent cooler than reference cooled GTX 980.
According to Gigabyte's specification list, the new GTX 980 Waterforce works at 1253MHz and 1228MHz base clocks in OC and Gaming modes while Boost clocks are set at 1354MHz and 1329MHz in those same OC and Gaming modes. The rest of the specifications are pretty much standard for a GTX 980 graphics card as you get 4GB of GDDR5 memory, paired up with a 256-bit memory interface and clocked at 7.0GHz, two DVI, HDMI and three DisplayPort outputs and need two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors.
Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not unveil any details regarding the price or the availability date for the new GTX 980 Waterforce graphics card.
