Nvidia recommends GTX 980/980Ti for VR gaming

If you want 1080p at 90FPS

Nvidia has released a list of recommendations for its Geforce GTX 900 series Maxwell-based graphics cards suggesting that the Geforce GTX 980 and Geforce GTX 980 Ti are meant for 1080p VR gaming.

According to Nvidia-made table, both the Geforce GTX 980 and the Geforce GTX 980 Ti are capable enough to get you 90FPS VR gaming at 1080p. The Geforce GTX 980 is also capable fo giving 120FPS in MOBA titles at 4K/UHD resolution and 60FPS in AAA titles at 1440p resolution while the Geforce GTX 980 Ti should give you 60FPS at 4K/UHD in AAA titles.

The Geforce GTX 970 should also get you 60 FPS in AAA titles at 1440p and 120FPS in MOBA at the same resolution. The Geforce GTX 960 should be enough to play MOBA games at 1440p while AAA titles should run smooth at 1080p resolution.

The GTX 950, according to Nvidia, will also get you 60FPS in AAA titles, although we are not sure about the level of details, as well as run MOBA titles at 1080p.

The Virtual Reality (VR) is becoming more and more important and hopefully we will see some higher resolution headsets but for now, 1080p VR gaming is what you will get with high-end Geforce GTX 900 series graphics cards from Nvidia.
