While ASUS already has an extensive line of Intel Z170 Express chipset based motherboards, most of the enthusiasts are waiting for the flagship Republic of Gamers motherboard from ASUS and today we have a first picture of the ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Extreme.

Based on an ATX form factor, the new ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Extreme uses similar design as the Maximus VIII Hero but comes with a different orange+black color scheme, which will look good when paired up with the recently launched ASUS ROG GTX 980 Ti Matrix Platinum graphics card, as seen on the picture below.

The new ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Extreme features a 16-phase CPU VRM powered by a 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS and an additional 4-pin ATX power connectors. It features standard four DDR4 DIMM slots and comes with a total of four PCI-Express 3.0 slots. The storage connectivity includes and SFF-8639 U.2 32Gbps port, an M.2 32Gbps slot, two SATA-Express 16Gbps ports and a total of eight SATA 6Gbps ports.

It also features integrated 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and SupremeFX integrated audio with ESS ES9018K2M DAC, TI LM4562 amplifiers and TPA6120A2 headphone amplifier as well as a 5.25-inch front panel.

The new ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Extreme motherboard will have plenty of overclocking-friendly features including standard and overclocking on-board buttons, dual-BIOS and more.

Unfortunately, we still do not have a precise launch date or the price for the new ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Extreme motherboard.
