ASUS has now officially announced its newest Republic of Gamers (ROG) GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum graphics card which will feature the hybrid DirectCU H2O cooler.

Based on Nvidia's GM204 GPU with 2048 CUDA cores and high factory-overclock, set at 1203MHz in gaming and 1228MHz in OC mode, the ROG GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum features a couple of ASUS-exclusive technologies including Auto-Extreme, Super Alloy Power II components and, of course, the DirectCU H2O hybrid cooler.

The 6GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface, ended up clocked at 7010MHz. The standard ASUS ROG GTX 980 Poseidon is pretty much the same card just with slightly lower 1075MHz GPU clock in Gaming mode and 1114MHz GPU clock in OC mode.

With a custom vapor chamber in direct contact with the GPU, connected via copper heatpipes to a hefty heatsink which is cooled by two dust-proof fans, the DirectCU H2O can be use as a standard air cooler or connected to a liquid cooling setup for additional cooling power. According to ASUS, the DirectCU H2O cooler is 5°C cooler on air cooling and up to 30°C cooler with liquid cooling, compared to a reference GTX 980 Ti. It uses standard G1/4 threaded fittings.

ASUS also equipped the ROG GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum with an aluminum back plate which should additionally cool the back of the PCB as well as help with structure rigidity of the PCB.

As noted, ASUS ROG GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum features ASUS' Auto-Extreme technology with 10-phase VRM with Super Alloy Power II components. It also has a LED ROG logo on top which pulses when the card is under load.

Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date for the new ASUS ROG GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum graphics card.
