Plenty of new desktop, AIO and mini-PC CPUs
Following the recent launch of its K-series Skylake CPUs aimed at enthusiasts and overclockers, Intel has now launched the rest of the 6th generation Core Skylake CPUs at IFA 2015 show in Berlin.
Featuring a total of 48 new CPUs, with TDP ranging from 4.5W to 91W, the new 14nm Skylake lineup will cover a wide range of devices, from compute sticks, various form-factor notebooks to desktop PCs and workstations.
The lineup includes the Skylake-S lineup of desktop CPUs, with ten new 65W and 47W SKUs and eight 35W SKUs, while the rest of the lineup include Skylake-H, Skylake-U and Skylake-Y CPUs.
In addition to the earlier released Skylake-S K-series Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K, which are also the only unlocked CPUs in the Skylake lineup, the Skylake-S desktop lineup includes ten more 65W SKUs, one Core i7, three Core i5, three Core i3 and three Pentium CPUs. The entire desktop lineup will be compatible with Intel's new 100 series chipset, including Z170, H170 and B150.
As you can see from the table below, the 65W CPU lineup includes a Core i7-6700 and Core i5-6600 parts which are pretty much the same as 91W Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K, except that they lack the unlocked support. The Core i5 lineup also includes the Core i5-6500 and Core i5-6400 SKUs which feature lower clocks, for both the CPU and the Intel HD Graphics 530 IGP.
The lineup also includes three Core i3 SKUs, The Core i3-6320, Core i3-6300 and the Core i3-6100. Unlike the quad-core Core i5 lineup, Core i3 lineup are all dual-core chips, do not feature Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, have 4MB and 3MB of L3 cache but also come with a lower 47W TDP. The same goes for three new Pentium parts, which are all dual-core designs, with no Turbo Boost 2.0 technology or Hyper-threading and 3MB of L3 cache. The entire Core i3 and Pentium lineup still uses Inteh HD Graphics 530 IGP, except for the Pentium G4400 which uses Intel HD Graphics 510.
Intel's Skylake-S will also include eight low-power 35W TDP parts, including a single Core i7 part, three Core i5 CPUs, two Core i3 CPUs and two Pentium parts.
All of these Skylake-S series CPUs will cover a wide range of products, including value and performance desktop systems, All-in-One systems as well as mini-PCs.
