LG has registered a couple of new trademarks which suggest that it might have a device that will go head to head with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus smartphone, the LG G Edge.
Currently, Samsung is the only company that has curved display smartphones on the market and it appears that these are more popular than anyone expected. While curved screens do not bring much in terms of productivity and usability, they are still a nice gimmick.
According to a trademark filings from LG, it appears that Samsung's curved smartphones could soon get some competition as LG already showcased its prototype with two curved sides at CES 2015. LG actually filled a total of eight different trademarks including G Edge, Super Edge, Dual Edge, Upper Edge, Dual Side Edge, Side Edge, Double Edge and Two Edge and the best guess is that the smartphone will be called the G Edge.
Unfortunately, we won't see such smartphone yet as best guess is that LG might have it ready for sometime later next year.
